"It's too late baby, now it's too late," to borrow the lyrics from the 1971 Carole King hit. The Hollywood Hills West house the singer-songwriter once called home is no longer available for sale, having sold this month for $1.5 million.
The cover shot on King's "Tapestry" album, containing the song "It's Too Late," shows her sitting in a window seat of the house. But that's not the French Normandy-style home's only claim to fame. It was owned by actress Courteney Cox beginning in the late '80s.
Built in 1926, the 3,832-square-foot house has a two-story rotunda, five bedrooms and 41/2 bathrooms. It sits on less than a quarter-acre with mature trees and a swimming pool with a cabana.
The Grammy-winning King, 70, is reissuing four of her classic albums later this month. The prolific composer sold the property in 1982 for $400,000.
"Cougar Town" star Cox, 47, bought the house in 1988 for $795,000 and sold in 1991 for $1,312,720, public records show.
Boni Bryant and Joe Reichling of Sotheby's International Realty in Los Feliz were the listing agents. William Barker of Coldwell Banker in Brentwood represented the buyer.
