NOTRE DAME -- When you're named after a former Notre Dame player, it's hard to imagine your college decision going much different.
"I don't think my mom would have given me the chance to go anywhere else," Irish senior and Penn High graduate Braxton Cave said.
But then again, Cave never wanted to go anywhere else anyway.
"I had a lot of offers from other schools, and I was kind of just sitting back waiting (for one from Notre Dame)," Cave said. "Once I got that offer, I jumped on it."
Running out of the tunnel for the first time is still his favorite memory at Notre Dame.
"Growing up, watching it, you see it," Cave said. "But to actually experience it is something special."
On Saturday, he'll run out of the tunnel for the final time. Out into a future that will take him away from home for the first time.
40:54 Cave "All I've ever known," he said. "It's kind of crazy to think that the next time I play football, it's not going to be anywhere near home. So it really puts it in perspective how special it's been."
And what a better way to say goodbye than a senior year like this.
43:33 "It's been awesome," Cave said. "It's the season I've been waiting for the whole time I've been here. It's nice to see it all come together in our final year."
