The US Senate passed a landmark marriage bill Tuesday eveing. 12 Republican senators voted with Democrats for the Respect for Marriage Act, which requires the federal government and states to recognize the validity of same sex and interracial marriages in states that don’t allow them to be performed. The House is expected to swiftly follow suit, and President Biden has said he will sign the bill.

The lawyer for the man accused in the murders of two teenage girls near Delphi nearly six years ago wants a change of venue for 50 year old Richard Allen’s trial. The lawyer claims moving the trial at least 150 miles away would significantly reduce the risk of a tainted jury pool. Allen is charged with killing Libby German and Abby Williams just off a walking and biking trail near Delphi in February of 2017.

An Elkhart man last seen Sunday afternoon remains missing, with a silver alert out for the brother of Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson. At last report, 70 year old Garvin Roberson was headed to a grocery store for some eggs. He did not have his phone or wallet with him. Garvin Roberson is listed as 6 foot 3 with black hair, brown eyes, and last seen wearing a gray zip-up jacket and black basketball pants.

The US Men’s soccer team is through to the knockout round of 16 at the World Cup in Qatar. A 1-nil win over Iran Tuesday earned the US a second place finish in its four team pool, sending them to a win or go home match against the Netherlands this Saturday.

Notre Dame men’s basketball hosts 20th ranked Michigan State tonight at Purcell Pavilion. It’s a late start, 9:15 on Sports Radio 960 AM WSBT. 5th ranked Purdue is at Florida State, and 10th ranked Indiana hosts 18th ranked North Carolina in Bloomington.

NBA: the Pistons got blown out by the New York Knicks, 140-110 in Detroit. The Chicago Bulls are at Phoenix late tonight, and the Indiana Pacers are at Sacramento.
