
The tight market for law enforcement officers nationwide is leading many department to raise salaries in hopes of attracting more people, and Mishawaka is the latest example. As part of a new agreement with the union, most on the street officers in Mishawaka will go from about 64 thousand dollars a year to 77 thousand by 20-24. The FOP says it’s a step in the right direction, but Mishawaka is still playing catchup after falling behind other cities. Like in many professions, there are fewer applicants in recent years as more and more older officers retire.
The FAA says a corrupted data file caused of thousands of flight delays on Wednesday, as a key safety information system went off line Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. It caused over eight thousand delays and well over a thousand cancellations. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says they have not ruled out the possibility of a cyberattack, but there’s nothing pointing to that so far. Flight schedules are expected to be close to normal today.
