A new mural at Foundry Field in South Bend celebrates the local Latino community and its baseball and softball players. Local artist Freddy Rodriguez completed the mural, which will be dedicated on May 9 with free tacos. The mural tells the history of Latino Americans in the area, featuring notable figures like Dickie Thon and Fred Thon. University of Notre Dame’s Institute for Social Concerns led the research for the mural, which includes images of migrant farmworkers, local ball players, and significant community members.
