Local businesses in LaPorte County, Indiana, are honoring veterans on Veteran’s Day by offering special deals and gifts. The United Way and Al’s Supermarkets in LaPorte and Michigan City will be giving out $20 gift certificates and commemorative coins to the first 100 veterans in the store on Monday from 10 a.m. to noon Central time. Active or retired military personnel can receive the gift by presenting a valid military ID or DD form 2 at the customer service desk. Only one gift certificate will be given per person, and recipients must be present to receive the gift.
